Perth: Sudanese man in court after wife stabbed

A Sudanese immigrant has appeared in Perth Magistrates Court charged with repeatedly stabbing his wife in a suburban street.

Cosmas Luhary Bundu, 30, was charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and breaching a violence restraining order after his wife, Joyce Laduku, was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with multiple neck and stomach wounds yesterday.

Police said Ms Laduku, 29 was believed to be four months' pregnant but the hospital refused to confirm this.

Duty counsel Sara Tovey told Magistrate Peter Malone that she had difficulty getting instructions because Bundu's native language was Bari Arabic ...

Outside the court, Bundu's uncle, Obede Morgan, said the couple had arrived in Australia from Sudan four years ago with two young daughters ...
