Feb 20, 2008, Courier Mail:
A RWANDAN man who has been charged with the rape of a 15-year-old Brisbane schoolgirl he met over the internet has been granted bail.
Richlands Magistrate's Court was told the 21-year-old allegedly walked into the girl's Acacia Ridge home about 1pm yesterday.
Prosecutor Shane Stephenson said the suspect tracked had down the girl's address, entered her home and sexually assaulted her.
Senior Constable Stephenson said the pair had established a distant acquaintance after they met through an internet website.
The court was told the girl never gave the man her address and did not know how he found her home.
However, duty lawyer Greg Lee said his client had been in contacting with the girl on the internet and by telephone over a three-month period and that the girl, who claimed to be 16, gave him her address ...
The man, who cannot be named unless he is committed to stand trial, faces one count each of rape, entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and indecent treatment of a child under 16.
